In order to maintain the MICS standard of excellence, the SOAR foundation in conjunction with MICS must continue its fundraising efforts each year.
Why do we need to do annual fundraising?
To build the beautiful, multi-functional campus you see today, Mountain Island Charter School and The Soar Foundation secured $31.5 million in educational bonds that come to term over 35 years. Our annual mortgage payment is close to $2 Million. Over the next 5 years The Soar Foundation will need to raise $1.4 million to contribute to a fund that will continue to keep our campus and facilities running. Because charter schools do not receive capital funds, MICS must dip into operating costs to pay these building expenses, taking money away from classroom support. The Soar Foundation is tasked with fundraising to offset these underfunded expenses of our charter school. With the support of the MICS community, The Soar Foundation has raised funds to inject the equity necessary to maintain, improve and update facilities, programs, and curriculum. Since we are a volunteer-run operation, 100% of raised funds go directly to supporting the school and the foundation. We hope you will reflect on your personal giving capacity and consider a donation this year.

Are donations eligible for company matching?
Yes, as a 501(c)3 non-profit corporation, donations to The Soar Foundation are eligible for matching if your employer has a matching gift program. Donations made to the Raptor Run, Annual Fundraising Campaign, and Denim Dress Down Passes are all eligible for company matching.
