The Soar Foundation is a 501(c)3 non-profit corporation that encompasses the PTO, Boosters, and all fundraising and sponsorship opportunities at Mountain Island Charter School. The Soar Foundation is honored to support the amazing year we have had at Mountain Island Charter School. From student successes in the classroom and on the field, to record staff achievements, Raptor Nation should be proud! Going into the 2025/26 school year, we are excited to launch our new Soar Foundation motto - Generosity in Action - representing our thanks for your contributions and our plans to turn your generosity into action.
The Soar Foundation is an all-volunteer run 501(c)3 non-profit tasked with fundraising for MICS. In addition, the foundation owns the MICS campus and holds the $31.5M in school bonds incurred to build it. Because charter schools do not receive state funding specifically designated for transportation or buildings, we rely on the generosity of our community to help cover these costs.
Your involvement is essential to the continued success of Mountain Island Charter School. Contributions of time through many avenues of volunteerism are encouraged. These include but are not limited to coaching positions, field trip chaperoning, room parent contribution, and participation in the MICS PTO. Our fundraising efforts include the Raptor Run, Silent Auction, and the Boosters Color Run. Further monthly donations are accepted, and business sponsorship is available. We kindly ask that you consider the MICS Soar Foundation in your charitable giving.
Charter schools do not receive building or transportation dollars as part of their per pupil funding, thus MICS students are funded less on average than a typical public school. Our school relies on the community for make up for this gap in support. Rather than fundraising large sums of money over many years, our founding families pledged capital to The Soar foundation, allowing us to secure $31.5 Million in funding which built the beautiful campus that you see today. Since charter schools do not receive capital dollars, MICS must dip into its operational budget to help pay our nearly $2 Million per year mortgage. Monies contributed to The Soar Foundation through donations and sponsorships help to offset this budgetary hit.
